Why We Picked Goals
The pitch for Goals fits on a postcard: keeping the run alive, again, slightly faster. Checkpoints are rare, which sounds harsh and is, in fact, the point. It consumes a few minutes and gives back a number, which is a fair trade. Nothing about it is memorable except the score, and the score is what you came for. The page's own numbers: 467 of 500 on the arcade shelf, 5.0 out of 5 from 4 ratings, and 149 plays.
How to Play
The page documents very little, so these are the things worth knowing before you spend time on it:
- The browser's back button leaves the page rather than the game, so use the in-game exit instead.
- The next run starts from zero, which is why the first thirty seconds matter most.
- Keep your hands loose; a hard grip makes small adjustments harder.
Editor’s Note
It suits a break between tasks and punishes anyone who plays it while talking. Arcade pages keep their instructions brief on purpose; anything longer would be read after the first death, not before.
