Astro Digger
Why We Picked Astro Digger
Astro Digger gives you nothing to learn and a score to beat, which is the oldest bargain on this shelf. A good run looks calm from the outside and feels like barely controlled panic from within. Nothing here is complicated; it is just fast. It stays because the restart is instant, and instant restarts are the whole economy of arcade games. For reference: 144 plays, 5.0 out of 5 from 2 ratings, and 480 of 500 on the arcade shelf.
How to Play
The game is small enough to explain in three lines:
- Arrow keys move you and nothing else needs mapping.
- A run ends when you are caught, and the score is the only thing that survives it.
- Small corrections beat big swerves once the speed climbs.
Editor’s Note
Saves and progression are rare here, so there is little to return to except the number. The difficulty is a slope rather than a wall, at least for the first minute.
