Alien Slime
Why We Picked Alien Slime
Alien Slime is short by construction: steering with the arrow keys until it stops working, then start again. It asks for timing more than precision: steering with the arrow keys, again, slightly later. Shallow the way a good joke is shallow: it lands, and then it is over. It has drawn 144 plays without a story, a save file, or a reason beyond the next number. For reference: 5.0 out of 5 from 1 ratings, and 479 of 500 on the arcade shelf.
How to Play
Three things decide whether a run here goes well:
- Directional keys only, which keeps the hand in one place.
- There is no ending to reach; the run simply stops, and then it starts again.
- Play the first attempt as a scouting run and let the pattern show itself.
Editor’s Note
The limit worth knowing: little persists, so a great run leaves no record beyond the number. Fullscreen is worth using here more than anywhere else on the site, since the play area is the whole point.
